KRUSH POSSE、MICROPHONE PAGERでの活動で、80年代後半～90年代初頭の日本語ラップに「改正」を唱え、真の意味での「ヒップホップ」を日本に根付かせたラッパー／プロデューサー／DJ。

MICROPHONE PAGERと前後してソロとしての活動を開始し、1996年にはMAKI & TAIKI名義の「ON THE 1+2」にソロカット"バスドラ発スネア行"で参加。翌年には、スペルバウンドより"DAISAN DANRAKU 97 PAGE"を発表し、日本語ラップをさらに進化させていく。

98年には自身のレーベル"incredible"を立ち上げ、"DIG ON SUMMER"、"HAN TOMEI"といったクラッシックを次々に世に出していく。99年には、トイズファクトリーよりメジャー移籍第一弾となる"K.M.W."を発表。続いて発表された"THE VINYL ATHLETES"では、D.I.T.C.のロード・フィネスとA.G.が参加したことでも大きな話題を呼ぶ。2000年には初のフルアルバム"PAN RHYTHM: Flight No.11154"を発表。トータルコンセプトアルバムとしても高い評価を受け、ラテン・フレイバーに溢れたこの作品はより幅広い層のファンを魅了することになる。

その後もK.O.D.P.を大々的にフィーチュアしたアルバム"Sweeeet Baaad A*s Encounter"、ミニアルバム"CHAIN REACTION"などを発表しながら、DJとしても国内外で活動を広げ、マイアミで行われている"Winter Music Conference"への出演や、Stones Throwのツアーへの参加などを経てワールドワイドの認知度を深めていく。

2005 年にはAVEXへ移籍し、"20 Street Years"を発表。また、フランスのDJ、ディミトリ・フロム・パリとのコラボレーションMIX CD"Super Disco Friends"はワールドリリースされ、世界的に大きな話題となる。2006年11月には、井上三太のストリート系コミック"TOKYO TRIBE2"のTVアニメ化にあたり、そのサウンドトラックを担当。同時に、US／日本のトップクラスのラッパー／プロデューサーが集結したMUROプロデュースによるアルバム"TOKYO TRIBE2"を発売。アメリカからはJUST BLAZE、GHOSTFACE KILLAH、DE LA SOULらが参加、日本からはTWIGYやBIG-Oら強者が参加しアニメと相まって大きな話題となっている。また、ラッパー"MURO"の集大成となる完全ベスト盤"MUROTIMATE BREAKS & BEATS VOL.1 & VOL.2"を発売。これまでの映像作品をDVDに収録し、MUROのソロラッパーとしてのキャリアを総括する作品。2007年には、NYの伝説的グラフィティアーティストLEE QUINONESとのコラボレーションによる初のインストアルバム"EAST RIVER PARK"を発売。

海外でのDJ活動も精力的に行っており、2007年10月には、ミラノで行われたNIKE AIRFORCE 1のイベントでのDJ出演を皮切りにロンドン／アムステルダムでのヨーロッパツアーも敢行。また、同年12月には北京で行われたFENDIのファッションショーのアフターパーティでDJを、そして2008年4月にはNYのBrooklyn Museumで行われた村上隆氏のエキシビションのオープニングイベントにてDJを行う。
2008年1月よりOAの安室奈美恵によるヴィダルサスーンCMタイアップ曲「Rock Steady」のプロデュースや、MISIA「Yes Forever」のリミックスなどを手がる。
2009年はリリースも多く、EMI、UNIVERSALなどからコンピをリリース。8月には自身の軌跡を辿るべくセルフミックスで今まで発表リリースしてきた楽曲のインストのNONSTOP MIX【DA CREATOR】をリリース。
2010年には和物のみを使用したオフィシャルミックスCDをリリース。多岐に渡るフィールドで最もその動向が注目されているアーティストである。

Muro is the rapper/ producer/ DJ, who advocated “revision” in a Japanese rap in the activity of KRUSH POSSE and MICROPHONE PAGER from the latter half of 80’s to the beginning of 90’s, and took a root in true meaning of “the hip-hop” in Japan.

Almost simultaneously the activity of MICROPHONE PAGER, he started activity as the solo artist and participated from solo cut “BASUDORA-HATSU SNARE-GYO (Starting Bass Drum, Playing Snare)” on “ON THE 1+2”/ the MAKI & TAIKI in 1996. In the next year, he announced “DAISAN DANRAKU 97 PAGE “, released by a spelling bound, and evolved the Japanese rap more.

In ’98, he started up his own label, “incredible”, and released many classics, “DIG ON SUMMER”, “HAN TOMEI” and etc. in sequence. In ’99, he released the first his own record, “K.M.W.” from TOY’S FACTORY after his label transference. The next record, “THE VINYL ATHLETES”, caused a big topic because the Lord Finesse and A.G. from the D.I.T.C. participated. And in the Millennium year of 2000, he released his first full album CD, “PAN RHYTHM: Flight No.11154”. This album received a high evaluation for the total concept, and this work which overflowed in Latin flavor charmed a broad range of fans.

After that, he released an album, “Sweeeet Baaad A*s Encounter” featuring K.O.D.P. on a large scale, and a mini album, “CHAIN REACTION” etc. In parallel with the release of these CDs, he widened his activity as DJ at home and abroad, and became known as worldwide through his performance at “Winter Music Conference” in Miami and participation of the live tour of Stones Throw.

In 2005, he moved to AVEX and released “20 Street Years”. And his record, “Super Disco Friends”, released around the world and became the big topic worldwide, was the collaboration work with French DJ, Dimitri from Paris. On November, 2006, he produced the sound track of Santa Inoue’s comic “TOKYO TRIBE2” when it was made into a cartoon series for TV. At the same time, he gathered the highly ranked Rapper / producer in US and Japan, produced and released the album, “TOKYO TRIBE2”. The big topic was the member, JUST BLAZE, GHOSTFACE KILLAH and DE LA SOUL from US and TWIGY, BIG-O from Japan. He released complete best board “MUROTIMATE BREAKS & BEATS VOL.1 & VOL.2” becoming the collected works of rapper "MURO". These two were generalized his carrier as a solo rapper. In 2007, he released “EAST RIVER PARK” as the first instrument album by the collaboration with legendary graffiti artist in NY, LEE QUINONES.

For his energetic DJ activity in abroad, he held Europe tour in London and Amsterdam starting with his DJ performance in the event of NIKE AIRFORCE, Milan in October, 2007. In the December, he played DJ at the party after fashion show of FENDI in Beijing. And he also did DJ at the opening event of the exhibition for Takashi Murakami in the Brooklyn Museum, NY in the April, 2008.

He produced the song, “Rock Steady”, used for the CM of the Vidal Sassoon, campaigned by Namie Amuro on aired from January, 2008, and he also remixed the song of MISIA, “Yes Forever”. He is the hottest artist in a field over many divergences.
